Book Club, July 14, 2022:

"A Gentleman in Moscow" by Amor Towles, 2014

Sentenced to house arrest in Moscow's Metropol Hotel by a Bolshevik tribunal for writing a poem deemed to encourage revolt, Count Alexander Rostov nonetheless lives the fullest of lives, discovering the depths of his humanity... A masterly encapsulation of modern Russian history, this book more than fulfills the promise of Towles' stylish debut, Rules of Civility. --- Kirkus Reviews

Social Justice

FAIR ELECTIONS INITIATIVE: A new citizen’s initiative is aimed at stopping these laws, but we must get enough signatures in just over three months. There will be someone on the patio after church each Sunday with this important petition as well as the other petitions aligned with our UU principals. Contact Margo Newhouse This email address is being protected from spambots. Share the Plate
Our Share the Plate for the month of June is the Tucson Abortion Support Collective: TASC

We are a Tucson-based collective serving Southern Arizona to provide emotional, physical, informational, and logistical support to people seeking abortion care. We seek to meet each person where they are to provide informative, compassionate, and inclusive care, while supporting other local and national movements that embrace an intersectional approach to reproductive justice.

Cafe Justo!
Sales - and delivery - of Café Justo coffee are always going. This Social Justice Council (SJC) project benefits small-scale, shade-grown organic coffee growers in Chiapas, Mexico.

UU the Vote with UUJAZ
June - November 2022

Democracy hangs in the balance, reproductive rights are clinging by a thread, and we are still waiting for promises about climate and immigration justice to be realized. In the meantime: the pandemic, economic injustice, sexism, racism, transphobia and homophobia keep us exhausted and unsure what to do. We've got your back! Join UUJAZ to be in community with UUs across Arizona who are making a difference in their communities, grounding each other and sharing ideas for electoral engagement.

Watch this space weekly for the next 6 months for candidate forums, and email Casey Clowes, UUJAZ Congregational Organizer, and UU the Vote Program Coordinator, with your questions at:This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..
