Heart Space: Shattered
March 10 | 6:30pm-7:30pm | zoom

Evening Worship returns! In this dynamic, all-ages worship, we will experiment and play with different ways to be in a reverent community together. This month in our theme of healing, we explore the ways we show up shattered, and that healing won’t be the same for everyone. What does your healing look like? There will be time for reflection, laughter, and joy. Please join us!

The room opens at 6:15pm for some social time and a heart-felt worship to follow at 6:30pm.

IT IS STEWARDSHIP CAMPAIGN TIME

Together We Thrive!

As you've probably heard by now, it's pledge season at UUCT. We are trying to have all pledges in by April 1st. Our goal for the pledge campaign this year is $265,000. This is a 5% increase over what was pledged in 2021-22. And I am confident that we, together, can make this goal! Why so confident? Just a couple months ago, UUCT rallied to fund a special capital project for updates to the Holland HVAC and bathrooms. In just a few short weeks we came together to raise over $273,000, more than our initial goal of $260,000. If we can do that, we can surely make our pledge goal this year. If you can swing it, we're asking for a 7-10% increase in pledges this year to be able to meet our goal. Even if you cannot increase your pledge, we need to know what contributions we can expect from all members and friends for the 2022-23 church year.

If you haven't pledged yet, you can do that online: PLEDGE or mail your pledge information to the church office at 4831 E. 22nd St. Tucson, AZ 85711.

Sign Up to attend In Person Service On March 13, 2022 in the Holland Sanctuary

Please sign up for each person who would like to attend. Wear a mask to church and respect the social distancing practices requested of those you interact with. Worship leaders are asking that all people attending in person worship enter through the patio doors, rather than the parking lot doors. If you would like to sing, plan to stay for a hymn sing on the patio led by Brian Moon from 11:30ish to noon. You are also welcome to socialize before and after the service on campus. See you in Holland!

When Goddard is open, we will have sign-ups for in-person worship viewing in Goddard, too.

If you cannot use the Signup Genius, call the front office. 520-748-1551.

Signup March 13

We also need VOLUNTEERS to usher! GREETERS and USHERS past and present: As we forge ahead (gently) with in person services, we'll be needing a greeter and an usher or two each Sunday. Please contact Kate Schleinkofer at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. with any interest or scheduling preferences. Thank you all so much!

How to Give to the Church

You are asked to use our credit card service (which can be reached by the link or the On-line Giving button on our website), the very easy to use Text-to-Give (1-833-361-5796), or checks may be sent to the office. The on-line giving gives you the option to identify the contribution and use the memo line for checks. A tutorial video on Text-to-Give is here. After setting up an initial “profile” these options are easy to use for subsequent donations.

We Need Office Volunteers!

If you have any free time that you can spare during the week, M-F, from 9-1, please consider helping out. Even if you cannot commit for the whole 4 hours, 2-3 hours would be great. We are trying to staff our office during these hours with volunteers so our Congregational Administrator can attend meetings, do church errands, and attend to lot's of other church work. Computer skills are a plus, but not necessary. A smile and cooperation are really all that is necessary.

Mar 17: TBIRDs Picnic

Fully immunized UUCT and MVUU seasonal members, visitors and friends will gather Thursday March 17 at noon on the east side of Himmel Park across from 2nd St. Set your GPS for 1000 N. Treat Ave, a block south of East Speedway where you will find ample on street parking.  All should bring deck chairs along with their lunch to join the circle.

Our February gathering brought together an equal number of folks from UUCT and MVUU folks eager to at least one more citywide get together this season and taking advantage of smaller get togethers at the neighborhood. Questions? Contact Howard Tolley:  This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Rummage Sale Success!

Many thanks to all of you who gathered donations for two and a half years and brought them in for our long-awaited rummage sale. The wait was worthwhile. With more donations than usual and a rummage sale hungry public we brought in over $4,300. Thanks to all who donated and shopped and to the host of workers who made the sale a huge success.

TEXnewMEX TUUR

Visit an Observatory!

Highlights of the TEXnewMEX TUUR October 8-16, 2022
Ready for more exploration of outer space? How about a night sky constellation tour at the McDonald Observatory? This research unit of The University of Texas at Austin is one of the world’s leading centers for astronomical research, teaching, and public education and outreach. Observatory facilities are located atop Mount Locke and Mount Fowlkes in the Davis Mountains of West Texas, which offer some of the darkest night skies in the continental United States. We’ll also view celestial objects through a number of telescopes.
The Visitor’s Center’s design responds to the rolling and scrubby terrain of its site and references West Texas building traditions, as well as early Native American astronomical beliefs and practices. The site plan consists of a series of three spirals — the entrance plaza, the outdoor eating area and the amphitheater — with the building sited in the center. Spirals and circles refer to ancient ruins which are found in the Southwest of the United States and are thought to have been used by early civilizations to measure and record astronomical events. This gesture embraces the anthropological history of astronomy as a human endeavor and connects to the science’s past.
To see the complete itinerary and registration information, go to https://uuctucson.org/images/documents/Brochures/TEXnewMEX.pdf
As an added bonus for our travelers who pay their initial deposit before April 1st, we will pay your entrance fee into Spaceport Roswell, a virtual reality-based experience that explores the "Roswell Incident" from the perspective of the aliens who caused it. In addition, all early registrants may postpone their second payment, originally due on April 1st, until May 1st. Those registering after April 1st will have two payments due as soon as they register, with the last payment due for all on June 1st, when we plan to close registration. At this time, we have 13 places left. When they’re gone, they’re gone!
