"I do not believe that just because you are opposed to abortion, that that makes you pro-life. In fact, I think in many cases, your morality is deeply lacking if all you want is a child born but not a child fed, a child educated, a child housed. And why would I think that you don't? Because you don't want any tax money to go there. That's not pro-life. That's pro-birth. We need a much broader conversation on what the morality of pro-life is." -Benedictine Sr. Joan Chittister

How to Give to the Church
You are asked to use our credit card service (which can be reached by the link or the On-line Giving button on our website), the very easy to use Text-to-Give (1-833-361-5796), or checks sent to the office. The on-line giving gives you the option to identify the contribution and use the memo line for checks. A tutorial video on Text-to-Give is here. After setting up an initial “profile” these options are easy to use for subsequent donations.

Share the Plate
Our Share the Plate donations for the second half of June, will go to Borderlands Sierra Club:
Walls and barriers have already been constructed across more than 650 miles of the U.S.-Mexico border. These barriers block wildlife migration, cause flooding and damage pristine wild lands, including wildlife refuges, wilderness areas, and national forests. Sierra Club Borderlands advocates for real solutions, such as comprehensive immigration reform with a path to citizenship, that address the root causes of complex border problems.

UUCT Book Club
The UUCT Book Club has selected the books for July, and August, so that participants will have time to acquire and read the books.
July 8, 2021: "The Night Tiger" by Yangsze Choo, copyright 2019
Excerpts from Kirkus Review: A young houseboy and a dressmaker's apprentice get drawn into a mystery in 1930s Malaya [Colonial Malaysia]. Choo (The Ghost Bride, 2013) continues her exploration of Malayan folklore here with questions that point to the borders where the magical and the real overlap: Choo weaves her research in with a feather-light touch, and readers will be so caught up in the natural and supernatural intrigue that the serious themes here about colonialism and power dynamics, about gender and class, are absorbed with equal delicacy.
Aug 12, 2021: "Yes is Better than No" by Byrd Baylor, 1977
Discussion leader: Carolyn C
Focuses on the problems and experiences of a small group of Papago (Tohono O'odham) Indians who have left the reservation to live in a ghetto in Tucson, Arizona.
We meet online the 2nd Thursday of the month at 9:30am.
