  • Middle School Group Activities:

Our Middle School class includes students in grades six and seven, as well as any eighth

graders not enrolled in the Coming of Age Program. This year's class began the year

with our self-designed program UU Community, designed to introduce children

to spiritual practice in a participatory fashion through fun, games and the arts. Next they

will explore the curriculum, Lessons of Loss, a lifespan curriculum on death & dying and

loss for the UU Community. They will spend their winter and spring immersed in the

program, Neighboring Faiths, an experiential curriculum exploring world religions

through the study and visits to places of worship throughout Tucson.

  • Coming of Age Program:

This is an excellent opportunity for UU Youth to transition to adulthood. As our 8th

graders leave children's religious education behind them, they transition to high school

with a full year of adventure and introspection. Each sojourner is accompanied by a

personal mentor, and two core guides for a year of outings, discussions, and projects

geared towards taking ownership of personal spirituality and leadership in our religious

community. Their year culminates with a Vision Quest in the spring and the presentation

of a Worship Service for the whole congregation.

  • YRUU:

The youth program endeavors to empower UU youth to continue their spiritual journeys

through a balanced youth-selected program including opportunities for learning,

worship, leadership development, community building and social service/social action.

                 There are two components:

                        1. Time during Sunday Worship Service in which youth participate in spiritual

development workshops, social justice projects, and group bonding.

                        2. Social and educational programming through movie nights, overnights, outings

and service projects in the community.

All activities include adult supervision and guidelines to protect youth.
