Welcome
to the Unitarian Universalist Church of Tucson Religious Education
Program!
Our program
emphasizes four themes:
- Unitarian
Universalist Principles,
- Unitarian
Universalist History & Heritage,
- World
Religions, and
- Social
Action
We rotate through these themes, two per year – so that they
are revisited as children grow older and their level of
understanding changes. This year our themes are UU History &
Heritage and World Religions.
I believe it is extremely important to help those growing up
as Unitarian Universalists to develop a positive definition of what
it means to be UU. In religious education we want to give our
children roots and wings. Studying the history of Unitarianism and
Universalism gives our young people the roots of our faith:
grounding in where we come from and an opportunity to see how we’ve
changed and grown as a faith. World Religions are among the wisdom
sources of our living tradition. Studying this wisdom gives wings to
young Unitarian Universalists who are on a path searching for
spiritual truth and meaning. Learning about the world’s religions
can broaden one’s perspective in that search and help one find the
underlying spiritual commonalties among humans.
These themes support young Unitarian Universalists in
confidently answering the questions they face outside of our faith
community. Parents are strongly encouraged to take an active role
in our religious education program in the classrooms, on the
Religious Education Council, or on one of its various committees.
Come learn with us! Help us pass on the legacy of our faith to our
children, the acceptance of diverse spiritual paths and the
welcoming faith that is Unitarian Universalism.
In Peace and
Faith,
