An Agreement With Life

People often ask me how it is we can call ourselves a religion when we don't share common beliefs. My answer: religion, from the latin religio, is that which binds together, and the binding element in religion has always been covenant, not belief. For example, the ancient Hebrews made a covenant with God. Who our what is our covenant with today?
