Dear friends,
You may have read about Cooking Together: Recipes for Immigration Justice Work<http://immigrationjustice.blogs.uua.org/> GA 2012 resources project where UUs together can help create, adapt, and inspire congregations to engage in immigration justice work. I'm writing to call your attention to this week's trio of blog posts and to invite you to comment on one or all of them.
- Leigh Freidman, a youth who served on the GA Right Relationship Team and as a youth chaplain, challenges us<http://immigrationjustice.blogs.uua.org/2011/10/28/flexibility-spiritual-energy-and-wearing-lots-of-hats/#more-366> to wear three hats at GA 2012: one as a guest in the city of Phoenix, one as an ally to the immigration justice advocates, and one as a peer in spiritual growth. In which ways are you preparing yourself and the people in your congregation to wear those hats?
- Rev. Parisa Parsa's homily from Occupy Boston UU Vespers on October 16 is a call<http://immigrationjustice.blogs.uua.org/2011/10/28/one-hundred-percent/#more-335> to be 100% able to see and cultivate that goodness in ourselves and each other.
- Rev. Deborah Holder challenges us to do the counter-cultural work of restorative justice<http://immigrationjustice.blogs.uua.org/2011/10/26/enacting-justice-questioning-the-paradigm/#more-321>. She reminds us that "If the church is to impart to the world a message of hope and love, of faith, justice, and peace, something of this should become visible, audible, and tangible in the church itself." (David Bosch, Transforming Mission).
Let the conversations begin- and continue!! Let the voices of religious educators, parish ministers, musicians, seminarians, lay leaders, youth, young adults, elders, theologians, and activists all be heard- come read and comment!
