Due to the vacation and sabbatical schedule the Empowerment Team held no regular meetings during the month of July. Arrangements were made in advance to cover emergencies, and Josie was provided with contact information to available ET members should the need arise. Although we were not meeting, we still received and responded to specific requests from the congregation. Some items were taken care of by email and others will be addressed at the ET 2010/11 Planning Retreat, August 21 or the first full meeting of the new fiscal year, August 26.
Business concluded by email during the month of July:
1: Approved request from John Shepard and Carol Evans to hold a January Brazil Night Fundraiser
6: Sent letter to B&G chairman, Richard Brodesky in response to request for B&G/ET clarity
6: Approved request from Patrice and Becca for 1070 protest items sale table during coffee hour.
10: Approved request from Josie for unpaid leave during first week of August (coordinated with Mary)
27: Approved request from Richard Brodesky, to publicize within UUCT, in Barbara Tegethoff’s memory, the Southern Arizona Clay Artists’ (SACA) “Empty Bowls Event” to be held in November in support of the Food Bank
Empowerment Team Portfolios
Leadership: Diane - on sabbatical
Communications: Peg – on vacation much of July. No Strategic Plan reports are scheduled for July or August. First report in September will be Community Building (within the Larger UU Congregation).
Facilities: Mary - on vacation much of July. However, we have been kept informed. The new chair of the B&G committee, Richard Brodesky, always copies all ET members on B&G correspondence. He has recruited new members and had the committee set a list of priorities for the upcoming year. To that end they have done an evaluation of needs and wants for the campus, and begun developing their plan of action.
Programs: Vacant - UUCT now has a new Acting LFD Director and she has hired an assistant. Once that was done, the ET invited someone to be our new member and hold this portfolio. At this time we do not yet have a confirmed acceptance. We hope to include the new member in our retreat on August 21 and then ask for an official BOT appointment at the August BOT meeting.
Membership: Mary - on vacation much of July.
Finance: Chris –not in town during July Finance Committee meeting.
