New Members:  We are grateful to have new members:  Cyndi Clements, Mark Henson, and walker Smith.  Additionally, Sheila Rogan will join us for specific projects.  Many thanks to all!

Discussion with Kathleen Hogue:  Kathleen presented her ideas for a mosaic mural project featuring a UU theme.  She showed us a proposed design.  The Committee is very supportive and wishes to help make this project a success.  Jeanna Jones will be our Liaison to Lifespan Faith Development for this project.

Sanctuary:  Byron presented the current plan.  We acknowledged the generous proposal of the Music Ministry to move the organ, but doing so would be too hard for technical reasons.

The four small lights above the lower stage will be raised, and the screen will be moved soon.  Mickey, Mark, Walker, and Richard are available to help.

Bell:  Mark presented two designs for metal symbols which can be placed in the bell tower.  We decided to pursue Mark’s ideas.  Mark and Walker will move this project forward.

Beautification:  Judy Dare discussed recent improvements and introduced the Adopt a Pot, adopt a Plot Program.  We took a walking tour of the gardens. Judy will be working with people to develop a shovel insignia.

Donations:  We acknowledge Jan and Mickey Dowling’s donation of a first-rate hose and receptacle for the Memorial Garden and Bob Samuels’ generous donation of pots, plants, and his “Witch’s Pot,” which will be installed in front of the curved wall.  We can use it for flowers or an herb garden for the kitchen ministry.  Chuck will get a better hose for the patio area.

Work Day:  With Mary’s help, we have scheduled a Work day to clean out the Tool Room and the storage pod behind the church.  Kathleen will get the youth and children involved as a community-building activity.  It will take place on Saturday, October 23, from 9 – 12.

Repair in Child care Center:  We viewed a cabinet and sink which need to be replaced.  Judy Dare will see about getting a vanity, and Ross, Byron, and Mickey will arrange for installation.  This must be done by August 18.

Disabilities:  We discussed services for members with disabilities.  We cannot afford automatic (electric) doors, but we can replace the doorknob on the handicapped bathroom with a lever knob.  Byron will take care of this.

We also discussed the significance of the screen for the visually impaired and for visual learners.  Chas McBride is investigating a hearing assistance loop for the Alcove, and Richard was asked to solicit comments and needs from members.

Plaque:  Richard will varnish the wooden frame for the plaques in the Memorial Garden.
